Childhood Depression – it is different from adult depression it is often un diagnosed or untreated.
Symptoms –
- Anger
- Fear of sadness
- Feeling of sadness
- Social withdrawn
- Changes in appetite, it is increase or decrease
- Changes in sleep pattern mean increase sleep or decrease sleep
- Feeling of low energy
- Decrease school performance
- Physical complaint like abdominal pain headache and which is usually not responding to physical treatment
- Feeling of worthless
Investigation and Diagnosis – by using clinical history clinical examination detailed history as well as psychometric test like CAT, TAT, HTP test
Treatment –
- Medical management SSRI medicines, SNRI medicines and TCA medicines
- Counselling and Psychotherapy
