Childhood Depression – it is different from adult depression it is often un diagnosed or untreated
Symptoms –
- Anger
- fear of sadness
- feeling of sadness
- social withdrawn
- changes in appetite, it is increase or decrease
- changes in sleep pattern mean increase sleep or decrease sleep
- feeling of low energy
- decrease school performance
- physical complaint like abdominal pain headache and which is usually not responding to physical treatment
- feeling of worthless
Investigation and Diagnosis – by using clinical history clinical examination detailed history as well as psychometric test like CAT, TAT, HTP test
Treatment –
1) Medical management SSRI medicines, SNRI medicines and TCA medicines
2) Counselling and Psychotherapy
