Childhood Depression – it is different from adult depression it is often un diagnosed or untreated

Symptoms

  1. Anger
  2. fear of sadness
  3. feeling of sadness
  4. social withdrawn
  5. changes in appetite, it is increase or decrease
  6. changes in sleep pattern mean increase sleep or decrease sleep
  7. feeling of low energy
  8. decrease school performance
  9. physical complaint like abdominal pain headache and which is usually not responding to physical treatment
  10. feeling of worthless

Investigation and Diagnosis – by using clinical history clinical examination detailed history as well as psychometric test like CAT, TAT, HTP test

Treatment

1) Medical management SSRI medicines, SNRI medicines and TCA medicines

2) Counselling and Psychotherapy
